Cell C Becomes the First in South Africa to Introduce WiFi Call- READ

WHAT IS Wi-Fi CALLING?

Wi-Fi Calling is Cell C's latest offering that extends your coverage even when you don't have cellphone coverage. It lets you turn any network into your own personal Cell C tower to make calls and send SMSs over a Wi-Fi network, using your current plan for no additional charges.

SEE HOW IT WORKS

WHO CAN I CALL ON Wi-Fi CALLING?

Our Wi-Fi Calling service allows you to call anyone on any network. The person you are calling does not have to have a Wi-Fi enabled phone and does not need to be on a Wi-Fi network. You can call anyone like you do now from the Cell C network.

WHAT ELSE CAN I DO WITH Wi-Fi CALLING?

You can make calls, send SMSs, check your voicemail and even buy bundles or check your balance over a Wi-Fi network.
CAN CELL C PREPAID AND TOP UP CONTRACT CUSTOMERS USE Wi-Fi CALLING?
Yes, Wi-Fi Calling works the same as Contract customers when in South Africa, but when travelling abroad prepaid and top up customers can only use their device on a Wi-Fi network only. If there is no Wi-Fi network present, these customers will not be able to connect to a cellular network, due to international roaming not being available to prepaid and top up customers.

CAN I USE Wi-Fi CALLING ON ANY PHONE?

You must have a Wi-Fi Calling cellphone to benefit from Wi-Fi Calling. Visit Wifi Handset to view the list of cellphones that support Wi-Fi Calling on Cell C.

HOW AM I CHARGED FOR Wi-Fi CALLING?

There are no additional charges to use Wi-Fi Calling, you simply use your current plan and are charged according to your current plan rates when you make a call or send an SMS over a Wi-Fi network. If you have inclusive value or free value on your current plan, your free value will be used first.

CAN I USE Wi-Fi CALLING OVERSEAS?

Yes! If you are an international traveller, you can say goodbye to expensive international roaming costs! Wi-Fi Calling allows you to connect to an international Wi-Fi network and make calls and send SMSs at your local Cell C tariff plan rates. You will get charged for all your calls as if you were in South Africa. Ensure that your phone is set to "never use cellular network" while overseas, to ensure that you never make a cellular call and only Wi-Fi calls.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

Wi-Fi Calling is quite simple. Just follow these steps:

MAKING A CALL:

Step 1: Connect to your preferred Wi-Fi network.
Step 2: Go into your settings on your phone and select "Wi-Fi Calling" to enable the service. You will now see the Wi-Fi Calling icon appear on the top of your screen.
Step 3: Once you connect for the first time, you will get a confirmation message - you're now ready to make calls and send SMSs.
Step 4: Dial the number on your keypad like you would normally do and press the 'call' button. This button will change to a Wi-Fi Calling button which means you are calling over a Wi-Fi network!
